Part number A1 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:00, 4 March 2021 (CET)

The direction of water flow is nowhere to be seen, a hydraulic diagram is needed.

Re: Part number A1 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:54, 6 March 2021 (CET)

In the new technical notes section, this important point has been taken into account.

Part number A1 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:24, 4 March 2021 (CET)

the slip of each collector with respect to its neighboring collector is not specified.

Re: Part number A1 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:58, 6 March 2021 (CET)

There is a small height difference of about 2 cm between the collectors, which is intended to ensure the flow of water and prevent the concentration of dirt in the zigzag pipes, the respective dimension has been placed on the plans.

Part number 1.2 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:36, 4 March 2021 (CET)

What are the standard sizes for galvanized sheets? so as not to waste material.

Re: Part number 1.2 -- Inddigital (talk) 16:06, 5 March 2021 (CET)

The design is based on a commercial sheet of 2.44x1.22 m, so with a single sheet, you can make the 3 collectors, I proceed to update this in the specifications.

Part number 1.3 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:38, 4 March 2021 (CET)

Wouldn't it be easier to buy these parts? ...and if you manufacture them, wouldn't it be better to have a square shape and with only 2 screws?

Re: Part number 1.3 -- Inddigital (talk) 19:34, 5 March 2021 (CET)

Very good observation, it will be taken into account for an improved version of the equipment (a fork).

Part number 2.1 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:41, 4 March 2021 (CET)

the wood must be protected, prepared, painted, etc.

Re: Part number 2.1 -- Inddigital (talk) 19:38, 5 March 2021 (CET)

Correct, a technical note was added

Part number 2.4 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:43, 4 March 2021 (CET)

the material must be 'wood'.

Re: Part number 2.4 -- Inddigital (talk) 20:02, 5 March 2021 (CET)

Done!

Part number 2.2 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:44, 4 March 2021 (CET)

the material must be 'wood'.

Re: Part number 2.2 -- Inddigital (talk) 19:38, 5 March 2021 (CET)

Done!

Part number 2.5 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:47, 4 March 2021 (CET)

polystyrene, fiberglass, etc. can be added if available.

Re: Part number 2.5 -- Inddigital (talk) 20:03, 5 March 2021 (CET)

As you can see, the specifications were updated and this item was also added to the technical notes

Part number 2.6 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:48, 4 March 2021 (CET)

what thickness of glass, alternatives e.g. example plastic, acrylic etc.

Re: Part number 2.6 -- Inddigital (talk) 20:13, 5 March 2021 (CET)

For the size of 1170*900 mm, a thickness of 4 mm will be enough, you can check here: https://nulinewindows.com.au/blog/glass-thickness-requirements-as1288

Ok, a possible improvement would be to work with acrylic material.

Part number 3.1 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:49, 4 March 2021 (CET)

storage tank, should be further specified

Re: Part number 3.1 -- Inddigital (talk) 20:34, 5 March 2021 (CET)

Specifications was updated, according to standard market sizes for 208 L metal drums:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drum_(container)

Part number 3.4 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:50, 4 March 2021 (CET)

how thick should the insulating matting be?

Re: Part number 3.4 -- Inddigital (talk) 20:36, 5 March 2021 (CET)

It is indicated as 27 mm, it may vary according to the material used.

Part number 3.4 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:50, 4 March 2021 (CET)

other alternatives such as polystyrene, fiberglass, etc.

Re: Part number 3.4 -- Inddigital (talk) 20:37, 5 March 2021 (CET)

As in item 2.5, the specifications were updated and this item was also added to the technical notes

Part number 4.1 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:51, 4 March 2021 (CET)

it is not "storage tank" it is "buffer tank".

Re: Part number 4.1 -- Inddigital (talk) 20:39, 5 March 2021 (CET)

Corrected!

Part number 4.1 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:52, 4 March 2021 (CET)

what is shown in the drawing is not half a vessel

Re: Part number 4.1 -- Inddigital (talk) 20:41, 5 March 2021 (CET)

Yes, as I did, I wanted to represent what is left after making a cut in the middle and give it some edge, it is something representative.

Part number 4.3 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:53, 4 March 2021 (CET)

  • This part needs to be further specified
  • Is it possible to use a normal sanitary part?

Re: Part number 4.3 -- Inddigital (talk) 20:52, 5 March 2021 (CET)

Specifications have been updated

Ok, it could be done with a sanitary part

Part number 5.6 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:55, 4 March 2021 (CET)

correct the word 'rectangular' in the part name

Re: Part number 5.6 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:47, 6 March 2021 (CET)

Done!

Part number 5.0 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 20:57, 4 March 2021 (CET)

  • I believe that with 200kg water in the storage tank and 100kg in the buffer tank that structure does not hold up in windy conditions etc.
  • original structure has trusses
  • should the welds be shown
  • corrosion protection and painting
  • how the structure and tanks are fixed

Re: Part number 5.0 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:46, 6 March 2021 (CET)

A comparative analysis of the structural resistance with and without trusses was carried out, resulting satisfactory in both cases; however, the observation was used as an opportunity to add trusses to the structure.

Structure sim.jpg

see more details in the technical documentation

The rest of the observations have been addressed in the technical notes.

Part number 6.0 -- Xtech2020 review (talk) 21:04, 4 March 2021 (CET)

  • bad name, should be "base collector"
  • welds should be shown
  • inclination depends on the region?
  • anti-corrosion and paint
  • does the structure need trusses?
  • how to fix the collectors ?

Re: Part number 6.0 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:51, 6 March 2021 (CET)

Definitely, the tilt depends on the region, with respect to the orientation of the sun, this point was added in the specifications.

In the case of the low structure, it is more robust than the one subjected to analysis and has a lower and better distributed load, therefore, it should withstand the structural conditions even better.

The rest of the remarks have been corrected and addressed in the drawings and in technical notes.

-- Xtech2020 review (talk) 21:13, 4 March 2021 (CET)

a note sheet can be added, (e.g. standard texts with indications on how to treat certain materials etc.)

  • water flow system
  • treatment of metal structures
  • what type of wood, wood treatment
  • foundations
  • insulation material, maximum temperatures
  • notes for bending of galvanized tubes
    • should be heated?
    • ideas for a bending aid

Re: -- Inddigital (talk) 16:10, 5 March 2021 (CET)

Hello, I am going to include a new section, called 'Technical Notes', here we will be able to see important technical information related to the equipment in general.

-- Xtech2020 review (talk) 05:45, 6 March 2021 (CET)

All revisions were addressed and corrected.

OK, FINISHED

Part number C1 -- Thehunter (talk) 09:06, 11 March 2021 (CET)

Please recommend that only biodegradable wood preservatives are used.

Re: Part number C1 -- Inddigital (talk) 04:34, 13 March 2021 (CET)

Ok thanks for that

Part number C1 -- Thehunter (talk) 09:10, 11 March 2021 (CET)

the wood should be troop and torsion free

Re: Part number C1 -- Inddigital (talk) 04:38, 13 March 2021 (CET)

As indicated in technical notes, a good kiln drying greatly improves the dimensional stability of the wood, after being assembled.

Part number 2.0 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:01, 11 March 2021 (CET)

Is there anything else that needs to be considered in addition to the rubber seal to prevent rainwater from entering the collector?

Re: Part number 2.0 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:12, 13 March 2021 (CET)

In addition to the protective glass, plastic film could be used to protect the wood and internal areas, this point will be added in the technical notes

Part number 1.4 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:04, 11 March 2021 (CET)

tapping screws can also be used here; this can be integrated in the description of an improved version.

Re: Part number 1.4 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:04, 13 March 2021 (CET)

Perfect, that would facilitate the assembly process, in an improved version of the equipment

Part number 1.2 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:07, 11 March 2021 (CET)

what thickness shall have this sheet?

Re: Part number 1.2 -- Inddigital (talk) 02:52, 13 March 2021 (CET)

The thickness for this sheet is 1.5mm, commercial size

Part number 2.7 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:10, 11 March 2021 (CET)

Instead of a rubber seal, the glass can also be glued in with silicone, which seals and at the same time serves to fix the glass

Re: Part number 2.7 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:39, 13 March 2021 (CET)

I think both rubber and silicone are necessary, while one fills and supports, the other seals. I will include this in the rubber specifications.

Part number 2.7 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:12, 11 March 2021 (CET)

If you only use the rubber seal, the glass plate should have to be fixed somehow so that it cannot come off during transport, for example.

Re: Part number 2.7 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:46, 13 March 2021 (CET)

It occurs to me to use packing strap, but the best thing is, as you mentioned before, to use a material that seals and fixes the pieces at the same time, such as silicone, In any case, it would be advisable to transport the glass separately while it can be.

Re: Re: Part number 2.7 -- Inddigital (talk) 04:07, 13 March 2021 (CET)

...

Part number 1.2 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:14, 11 March 2021 (CET)

the sheet metal and the pipes must be painted black so that more heat can be absorbed

Re: Part number 1.2 -- Inddigital (talk) 02:58, 13 March 2021 (CET)

You are absolutely right, in the technical notes section, the point you mentioned was added, in the treatment of metallic parts

Part number 1.2 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:16, 11 March 2021 (CET)

and the saddles alos have to be painted black

Re: Part number 1.2 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:01, 13 March 2021 (CET)

Okay, once assembled you must proceed to paint the whole inside

Part number 2.7 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:18, 11 March 2021 (CET)

there are two different lengths of rubber strip, the first is 1170 mm and the second is 840 mm.

Re: Part number 2.7 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:50, 13 March 2021 (CET)

Yes, the initial idea was to place strips of the longest size and when assembling, cut the excess

Part number 2.8 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:20, 11 March 2021 (CET)

what is the function of this aluminium angle? If it is to hold the glass, four angles on all four sides are better.

Re: Part number 2.8 -- Inddigital (talk) 04:10, 13 March 2021 (CET)

Yes, it would be better, maybe three, so that the glass can enter and exit from one side, in an improved version

Part number 2.5 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:21, 11 March 2021 (CET)

to what temperature can the sheet metal heat up? this temperature must be withstood by the insulating material

Re: Part number 2.5 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:33, 13 March 2021 (CET)

In normal operation, water would be obtained between 40 and 70 °C, according to the original source. This implies that the sheet is even hotter. On the other hand, the insulating material can work well at about 95 degrees. Theoretical estimates of heat transfer can be made, but I think it is better to carry out tests in a second stage, of a better designed equipment.

Part number 2.0 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:25, 11 March 2021 (CET)

if the collector is running empty, i.e. without water, the temperature can rise very sharply depending on the insulation. This must be taken into account when selecting the collector materials

Re: Part number 2.0 -- Inddigital (talk) 03:26, 13 March 2021 (CET)

True, one of the materials that least resists high temperatures is polystyrene, whose use is recommended up to a maximum of 95 °C. Tests should be done to determine the maximum temperature, for example, running empty, and possibly modify the recommended materials on improved versions with better design.

Part number 4.0 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:37, 11 March 2021 (CET)

how are the pipes attached to the water tank? Welding is possible, but also riskier because the sheet metal of the water tank is very thin, a screw connection is better.

Re: Part number 4.0 -- Inddigital (talk) 04:16, 13 March 2021 (CET)

According to the original design, they are welded, however, for an improved version, a tank connector would be best.

Part number 4.1 -- Thehunter (talk) 11:39, 11 March 2021 (CET)

it must be checked whether a buffer tank is always required. If a water pipe is permanently attached to the hot water tank, a buffer tank should be superfluous. If no buffer tank is required, the floating gauge must of course be placed in the hot water tank and the piping must be adapted
