: According to the [https://dspace.mit.edu/handle/1721.1/27493 original development], the equipment would be used to feed an electrical network (coffee farm in South America), which is why they have selected a 60Hz generator, however, I believe that this can be adapted to the needs of who will replicate them. The speeds of the generator and turbine must match. The speed of the turbine depends on the amount of water and the head, a calculation for the specific application should be made. Alternatively, the turbine can be put into operation first, then speed measurements are taken and the power transmission and generator are designed afterwards.

: I agree with testing, it is the most reliable way to size the equipment. For the moment I am basing on the calculations and graphics of the [https://dspace.mit.edu/handle/1721.1/27493 source]: for a 4 poles generator, at a speed of about 850 rpm, guaranteed by an availability of 10 m of water column, we can apply: frec=poles*vel/60 = 4*850/60 = 56.67 hz, which we can achieve at a good efficiency of about 77%.

There are a number of castings in this project. As castings are difficult to produce in smaller workshops, consideration should be given to replacing them with welded constructions and/or standard parts. Proposal for an improved version.

: Correct, although this drawing is dimensionally complete, for a machining process it is highly recommended to use linear dimensions from existing edges and corners, however, manufacturers often reprint drawings with additional dimensions as required, especially if CAD files are available. In any case I will add the dimension you indicate as it is appropriate.

  • Cast iron can not be used, because in small scale this technology is not used.

For sliding fit moving parts, it is highly recommended to place dimensional tolerances on the dimensions where applicable. In the absence of this, a general value could be specified for these dimensions
