Why does the CAD Centre exist

There are thousands of great sustainable technology projects on the web. However, if you want to copy them, you almost always find that the documentation is insufficient, i.e. there are no or only incomplete plans or parts lists.

There is a simple reason for this: the developers of the projects either do not have enough time or do not have enough knowledge to document them properly. The creation of these documents is time-consuming and requires specialized knowledge of CAD systems.

Interested users have no possibility of rebuilding the projects, or if they do try, there is a great risk that errors will creep in during the recreation.


How the CAD Centre works

Step 1

Either the project developers apply for certification of their projects on their own or the OHO team selects Do it Yourself or Open Hardware projects.

Step 2

In the next step, the projects are checked to see whether they meet the requirements for certification, e.g.

  • whether the solutions correspond to the current state of technology
  • whether they have specific weak points or risks
  • whether special materials, components or processes are required for their manufacture
  • Including other criteria

Step 3

After a positive preliminary check, it is examined whether the existing project documents (construction plans, parts lists) are sufficient to reproduce or further develop them without any problems. If this is not the case, the engineers of the OHO team use modern CAD systems to create all the files and documents required for standard-compliant technical documentation. The project developers are closely involved in this process to ensure correct documentation of the projects.

  • The selected projects receive technical documentation in accordance with international standards.
  • They can be rebuilt or further developed worldwide.
